The +1

24 hours. That is the entire budget.

Money can be earned, borrowed or saved. Time cannot. Every plan that ignores this is a plan you will quietly abandon in week three.

Where do the 24 hours go?

Rough estimates are fine. Everything here is temporary: it disappears when you refresh or close the page.

Fixed vs flexible. About 18.5 hours of this day are hard to move; roughly 5.5 hours are where choices actually happen.

Stacking, counted once. A walk with a friend serves physical and social health, but it is still one block of time — so each block above is counted once, under the pillars it can serve, never added twice.

Where 182.5 hours comes from. 30 minutes a day is 0.5 × 365 = 182.5 hours a year. It is arithmetic about time, not a claim about health outcomes.

How to read your own day

Trade-offs are the point. If you want an hour of movement, name the hour it comes from. Usually it is screens, sometimes it is sleep — and taking it from sleep is a bad trade.
Stack pillars where you can. A walk with a friend is physical and social. Cooking with your kid is physical, social and purpose. Stacking is how busy people make this work.
Protect the floor, not the ceiling. Decide the minimum you will do on your worst day: ten minutes of walking, one call, seven hours in bed. Floors survive bad weeks. Ambitious plans do not.
The cheapest hour you will ever find is the one currently going into a feed. Reclaiming 30 minutes a day gives you roughly 180 hours a year, at zero cost.
