How it works
Three steps, about five minutes.
1
Reflect on your current balance
Twelve short questions across the five pillars and the 24-hour constraint.
2
Choose what matters now
You pick the priority — the tool does not rank your life for you.
3
Build a plan that can survive a difficult week
Two actions, each with a minimum version for the weeks that go wrong.
Five pillars and one constraint
Health is not only physical, and time is not infinite. The 5+1 Framework is Wellthspan Advisory's educational and planning framework, not a clinical instrument.
The +1
24 hours a day. That is the whole budget.
Every hour you put into one pillar is an hour not going to the others. Open the allocator.
The ideas this site rests on
Cost is not the same as value
Many foundational health behaviours are free or relatively inexpensive, although health is also shaped by healthcare access, income, housing, work and other circumstances.
Prevention is worth considering carefully
Many preventive actions offer good value, but not every screening, test or intervention is beneficial or cost-saving. Effective prevention can reduce some future health and financial risks, but it cannot eliminate them.
Money and health move together
Financial strain can materially affect mental and physical health. Unnecessary wellness spending should not undermine essential expenses or financial resilience.
Simple, but not easy
What is actually hard is changing habits. Expect the difficulty to be in repeating the boring thing, not in knowing what it is — so start with one small change, not ten.
